underslung frame
Now, I know that I much perfer sport tuned static drops, so I usually don't pay much attention the engineering behind designing your back half for bags, but I've always thought that someting like this made way more sense that building a moster notch that will buckle if you ever get rear ended. I realize that it will limit your ride height making it more difficult to drive onto a trailer or over large obsticales (but as I said, I perfer static over bags so I'm used to that)
![]() Maybe that's just because I spent 5 out of my 19yrs doing bodywork, fixing frames in a collsion shop but it seems easier and safer (esspecaily if your not 100% confident on your welding skills)

I only makes sense if their running a large wheel and tire combo (20's or bigger) because your limited by the frame hitting the bottom of the axle....as for getting rear ended, the frame is always so close to the ground that the vehicle behind would likely run right over top of it rather than into it...
I like the fact that its different and even thought about doing it when I was building mine but there doesnt seem to bee too many benefits other than a lower bed floor....just a matter of personal preference I guess

I think it looks neat, but I'd rather have a notch. IMO if you get rear ended the notch is probobly the least of your problems since the whole bed and other parts will be mangled anyways. I really doubt that the notch will make that much difference, if the frame gets hit, it gets hit and will tweak in the end. Even if it takes it better being under slung its still messed and will need repair. Thats just me though. I'd only do an under slung one if I wanted to be really different.

my truck got rearended and it didnt do anything to tyhe frame itself , only the tank mounts, just have to build it proper. if you brace and weld it proper it ends up stronger then a factory frame

Even notched if you box in the frame-rails it makes a huge difference for strength. Even just 8-12" before and after the notch will solve your problems

I've never liked the look of them. Seems like it would be a pain in the dick if you ever rolled with the front up, back down as well.
And yeah a properly built notch will be just as strong as factory. If anything is hitting you that hard, your frames gonna be junk no matter what.
