I agree too, I was suprised how simple it really is to shorten them up. I would be tempted to do it myself one day.

lol. Ok, i dont know what its like on other vehicles, but go look above your back wheels errbody (with trucks) look above you rear wheel there is a peice of metal that goes from the inside bed wall to the outside bedside, Cut that, Drill out spot welds front and rear of the bed side to release pressure. cut support in half, push out wheel well, weld in spacer peice, put front and rear spotwelds back in spot and weld back together... Done, Widebodyed bed....

that'll work for only a small gain though.....I could see the sheetmetal trying to buckle before and after the wheel opening if you plan going as much as 1.5-2" like you stated before.....just lookin out man

I did some time in a body shop during school and IMO metal never moves like you think it will. It may look like you can push it out 2" but then it sill crease or buckle somwhere else or flatten and weaken the metal.

Think of it like a piece of paper, pull it tight then try to push the middle. it will move, but how much before it bends weird?

if you want that look i'd suggest trying to get the off road flare.

I'd suggest taking the oppinion of the other guys though, they have built vehicles and know what they are talking about. You don't want a build like mine. I should be done, and now I have to redo about $300 or more worth of it.

so youre only pushing the bottom of the bed sides off? leaving the top?
the top edge isnt going to let you push the bottom out like that. Its still fixed.
were not trying to knock your idea, were just trying to save you some un needed headaches

I already have it done, its just i want to make it "proper" i did it quickly when I got the wheels because I was wrong with the spacing in the rear and they wouldnt fit with out cutting the tire up, I learned this the hard way.... Its already been "flaired" i just have the need to make the work look better.....

i am not saying it can't be done, I was just offering a warning. We need progress pics of the bed. That way we all see what you mean rather then guessing what you are doing.

Hey Kyle, you definitely need to post some pics on here for everyone of what your exactly talking about. In this case we could be wrong but we don't really know until we see what you plan is. The thing with everyone here and on most forums (exlc s10 forum) is that most people aren't here to send you down the wrong path. We are all only trying to help.
I'm just saying that the way you worded that made it look like you are telling everybody they are idiots lol. Now I've met you and I know your not a dick so I kinda chuckled but just saying I'm sure everyone that has posted is just looking out for ya buddy.
Seriously though we need some update pics. Dieing to see how the back-half is coming along dude...
