You need front and rear outer fenders. And in the box you need inners to keep you from spraying shit all over the road. Having a dirty engine bay is illegal? Pain in the ass for the owner maybe, but not illegal. The hood stops it from being the same problem as the rear. As long as there is no open tire spinning anywhere it sould be fine.

I was not referring to a "dirty engine bay", rather road debris that could be brought up into the engine bay by the rotation of the tires, and therefor coming in contact with moving components such as fan belts, etc.

Bottomline is its not in the HTA.
Every motor vehicle and every trailer, except a farm trailer, shall, when upon a highway, be equipped with splashguards or fenders adequate to reduce effectively the wheel spray or splash of water from the roadway to the rear thereof, unless adequate protection is afforded by the body of the motor vehicle or trailer or by a trailer drawn by the motor vehicle; and the splashguard shall comply with the standards prescribed therefor under the regulations.

I drove a bagged truck with no inner fenders for 2 years and my only issue was a dirty engine bay.
For the most part my motor actually stayed clean, since the tires don't really direct anything at the motor. The debris in the belts thing is along the same lines as the steel rod through the bag IMO. The chances of it are so minimal, and if it did happen, you could still exit the roadway safely. The same kind of shit could happen to any car on the road so unless they want to make it mandatory that all cars be equipped with bellypans to protect all lines and moving components from road debris, then its just another excuse to ticket something they dont understand. "that doesnt look right...it must be illegal"

Makes sense Joel, my engine only gets dirty when it is raining and I am driving....
It sounds like these cops are uneducated and trying to be "Hero's" I wonder if this new quota they have to meet has anything to do with it?!

Doesn't seem like it. They were on Keewatin just after the underpass (Northbound) All morning long today. Pulling over tons of people for speeding...
But apparently we have a gang problem in this city? Must be some new tactic to catch them? |

speaking of the belts thing i once did see a chrysler 300 with a tire iron lodged into the gas tank spilling gas down pembina but the likelyness of that happening on a regular accurance is slim to none. no inner fenders and all this crap makes me not wanna even drive my truck just too much shit to deal with to have a vehicle on the road i guess if ur out on a sunday u'd have to expect this

I think this is hillarious a line up of 7 cars all night getting pullled in for inspections cops everywhere pulling these people over and there was one evening this summer where 7 random people got shanked. Hahaha F@ck someone was driving a quad around the city yesterday and he got away cause he smashed it into a cruiser and ran and the cops deemed it to dangours to chase him. hahah Love Winnipeg
