1st Gen S10 - 92 to 88 Cluster Swap

I went to the Pick N Pull and got a Cluster out of a 88 Blazer with a tach built in. I had a good idea how to get it to work, but I needed a few more things to get it to work. I didnt want to have to convert my truck to a cable system, so I had to custom fit an electric speedometer into the cluster.

I had to get a circuit ribbon from a truck to get my idea to work.

Here is the 91 electric 'L' speedometer I had to pull to get my plan to work.

The cut-out I made from the circuit rubbon.

I attached the ribbon to the speedometer.

The speedometer installed into the 88 cluster.

Here you can see I had to custom wire the electric speedometer onto the 88 circuit ribbon.

I got the cluster in my truck, I think it looks awesome!

hahaa, im still workin on my own. i might be building a new harness for it... so i can move the fuse box over to the pass side. and i dont really like splicing wires... so i'd be running new ones.

Good Work! i got a S10 Blazer with a digital cluster burned and i found a 88 one in a junkyard just like the one you upgrade, and im tryin to make the swap but the temp. gauge always go down, when i start the car can see the needle going a little bit down and when i use the turns i can see the needle of the batery moving a little bit if is right turn go a little up and if is left go a little down, the fuel gauge is always on top... somebody know what can i do? or some method to wire becouse im doing something wrong...

For the colorado? There is penty or wire there to rotate the factory fuse panel to where the battery is for clearance. Its easier to relocate the battery than extend the fuse box.
I have a 07 as well and was thinking the same thing.

isn't that cutting it close to the belt and fan?
I think I'll end up putting it up a bit and ditching the battery in the bed or hidden underneath with terminals to boost it
