Questions for you Chev/GMC guys
My wife refuses to drive a Ford and I refuse to fix another of her Dodges so we've compremized and decided to get her a 2000-'04 Blazer/Jimmy, but we need one that has atleast a 5000lb tow capacity. So after doing some researce found that I need one with the 3.42 rear (and perferably the factory tow pakage)
So my questions are: Where does GM put the axle codes on these? What is the code I'm looking for? And is there a diff. tag on the axle with the ratio stamped in it? |

cool man, even better. I am buying the full tailgate skin for my spare colorado gate. I want to get it reskinned. I can weld but the gate isn't exactly how I want to practice bodywork. I Have a Mig PAK 180c with argon...

I usually use Autoweld, it's a good Argon CO2 mix that seems to work really well on material up to 1/8". Of coarse right now, being that my only pay comes from answering a few questions once every 2 weeks (no,no,yes,no) and that the gas kit and the price of buyiong a bottle will cost me more then what I paid for the welder, I'm stuck with flux core. (I have gottin more scars on the tops of my feet in the last 2months then in the last 20 years using gas, not to mention I've havent had to use a stone grinding disc on my welds in 15yrs)

yes flux cored can be ugly, it is a lot more picky of your settings. Many people also dont realize that E71T flux cored wires require negative polarity - it will throw much less shit off the weld in this mode.
autoweld is a good gas, it is a 25% co2/75% argon mix. next time you re-up try the stargold, reduced spatter and lower welder settings. |

I only use flux core on this welder when I have to weld something pretty thick. I'm hoping to pick up an arc welder soon. And am dieing for a plasma cutter!

Yeah I know but it is a really strong weld! If you use the rigth rod too.
I would like either the arc or a really nice 220 MIG. well see. Until I get a garage and house of my own there wonèt be much nice tool buying.
